Dreaming, Emerging, Witnessing - A Solo Exhibition
October 12, 2025I’m excited to invite you to my solo exhibition opening on October 18th at Chez Mahmandi in Nairobi. I wanted to share a little about what it means to me.
“Dreaming, Emerging, Witnessing” gathers together three threads of my practice: photography, ceramics, and painting, each one tracing a way of seeing, feeling, and remembering. It’s an exhibition about transition, perception, and how we hold onto what moves through us.
Dreaming: Between Reality and Imagination
In my photography, I’m drawn to the spaces in between, moments that hover somewhere between what is real and what is imagined. They carry a kind of stillness, a suspension that feels like dreaming. Sometimes an image holds what words can’t, a memory, a longing, a glimpse of something shifting.
Emerging: Nerikomi Ceramics and Pattern
In my ceramic work, I use Nerikomi, a Japanese technique of layering colored porcelain. Patterns appear only as you cut through the clay, revealing hidden rhythms and quiet surprises. These pieces evolve slowly, almost meditatively, an unfolding of repetition, intuition, and memory embedded in the material itself.
Witnessing: Painting as Visual Poetry
My abstract paintings are like poems made of color. They explore emotion through rhythm and gesture, a way of noticing what it feels like to be present, to pay attention, to sit with the subtle weight of being human.
This exhibition feels like a moment of arrival, but also of continuation, a space to reflect on how we become, how we shift, and how we see.
The show runs for three weeks and the admission is free. Come by for the opening on October 18th, 4:30–7:30pm—or visit anytime during regular gallery hours. Bring a friend. Stay a while.
